Procedure |
|
1) Wire brush damaged areas to remove loose
particles. Thereafter clean area of dust. |
|
2) Pre-wet area with water mist. |

3) Apply a coating of PVA glue to clay area to
endure adhesion to paper clay. |
|
4) |
Multifilla paper clay is the preferred choice in
Ceramic sculpture repair as texture is fine and dries ceramic hard. Its
dried color is similar to HB2 bisque ware. Also permits sanding when
dried and taken on well with matt sealer undercoating prior to painting.
Any hairline shrinkage cracks can be grouted with the same paper clay. |
|
5) |
Control drying by water misting repaired sculpture
and allow gradual drying inside plastic bag. |
|
6) |
Grout and fine sand any hairline cracks expected
of paper clay that shrinks with drying. Sand immediately after grouting
to allow sanded particles to fill cracks. |
|
7) |
Finally seal sculpture with water-base Multifilla
matt sealer followed by acrylic painting or air brushing. |
