Hand building clay HB4 is the continuation series of HB2 well adapted to hand building, sculpting and press molding. The difference is its fired color varying from Red to buff under oxidation. Firing temperature ranges from 1000°C to 1186°C . Recommended to conduct test strip firing for first time users. Buff clay is soft ready to use with wedging kneading like any other clay in sculpting and throwing to reconstitute its moisture and rejuvenate its plasticity. Smooth fine texture and with the kneading in grog it is a beautiful stoneware clay body. Glaze well with Velvet underglazes and LG 10 clear transparent glaze in low firing temperature and Potter’s choice in stoneware mid firing temperature.
As a low temperature clay body one might get surprises in Raku reduction firing.
