Clear glass handle and frosted glass milling surface to reduce pigment particle sizes on a glass plate, marble or granite surface. Mill in a circular motion assisted with a squeeze to centralise mixture. Helps to homogenise curdy printing paste, silk screen colors and color pigments with oil, water or glue binder Tylose, urea formaldehyde and gum rosin. Quickly pulverise pencil graphite and chalk sticks shavings into fine powder for charcoal hand painting. Grind earth colors, colored oxides and plants for cosmetics. Convert hard to swallow tablets into powder. Thorough blending and mixing epoxy and filler into a homogeneous smooth paste. Clean up with acetone or wipe clean with tissue.
An example in the use of a glass muller to prepare red bole used as a base in gold gilding. The red bole acts as a cushioned base and warmth color in gold burnishing. On a glass plate mix water reducing agent superplasticizer powder 1g to red iron oxide and 2g CMC powder. The superplasticizer ensures smoothness and the CMC as a binder and retards drying time. Followed with water sufficient to form a paste to grind till smooth lump free. This fine smooth bole is then brush on to where gilding is required as a base cushion, holes or imperfection filler. Allow to dry fine sand before commencing gold gilding process.
