Now back in supply HB1 terracotta. This low fire hand building clay similar in workability, fineness and smooth sculpting to HB2. Fires to a low temperature of 1000°C in terracotta off white. HB1 smoothness and malleability performs very similar to HB2 and WED clay. This clay is well aged for plasticity over 20 years. Well suited for sculpting, press molding and intricate coiling. Pre knead before use. HB1 low firing temperature is well suited in school ceramics projects like raku wood firing or simply as air dry clay in the absence of a proper ceramic kiln. Pottery wheel throwing and coiling is possible. Addition of grog or coarse mullite permits clay amendments to higher temperature firing and thermal shock properties much similar to stoneware clay. Similiar kneading with mae vit ball clay convert this hand building clay to a throwing pottery clay. Kindly conduct R&D trial formulation and test firing with amount added to desired clay features like shrinkages, enhanced plasticity, thermal stability, clay slumping for higher firing.
